NVP is committed to the principles of robustness and transparency and runs in an open-source software and language, namely R and QGIS, to deliver its natural capital assessment almost anywhere around the world. Broadly speaking, NVP methodology is grounded in four main activities:

  1. Data acquisition and pre-processing, using satellite imagery from the Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission.
  2. Calculation of ecosystem services indicators, using a set of key indicators of ecosystem services, based on the international classification standard for ecosystem services.
  3. Assessment of the natural capital balance, using algorithms to compare natural capital metrics at the start and end of a project.
  4. Data reporting, using advanced analytics.

Each step of the process is followed  by the NVP team to ensure you get the most accurate and reliable information possible. Learn more about the NVP methodology here.

We follow all regulatory and ethical considerations to ensure your data is protected. Learn more about how your data is protected and handled in our Privacy Policy.

NVP users can utilise NVP-generated data as they deem appropriate, provided they adhere to our Terms and Conditions.

Data calculated by NVP can be exported while navigating through NVP. The exported file is a csv file, showing information on the selected indicators, the value of the natural capital for the start and end years, the corresponding natural capital balance, the projects selected and used in the calculation, and any further comment available. Graphics available on NVP can also be exported. Learn more about NVP reports here.
